Yorkshire photographer working in Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and London. Iβm available to work wherever you need me to be.
As a photographer and now also a video creator, itβs ALL about the quality of work. To create something visually dramatic, perhaps emotive alongside those key essentials to make sure the photograph or video is doing and saying the right thing for the brief. Whether itβs a corporate headshot, brand photoshoot or a sports kit needing to be photographed, my attention to the important details never wavers. My standards for quality production are as high as can be and you will only ever get photography or video content that I am proud to give to you.
See below a mixture of the projects I have enjoyed crafting in the last few months and years. Let me know how I can help you?
Cycling kit wind tunnel photography - Velotec
Another session with happy clients Velotec photographing their amazing cycling speed suits at the Silverstone wind tunnel. Building relationships with clients over several photography sessions means when the client calls me, they know exactly what they will get. Reliability, quality photography and some fun along the way. I have years of experience on the marketing side of things working for brands as a designer in the past, so as a photographer I know exactly what helps to sell.
If you would like to find out how I can help your brand, please do get in touch!
Velotec cycling kit performance photography
Itβs such a pleasure to be asked to work with a client on multiple occasions. Helps to convince me what Iβm doing works! Velotec asked me again to shoot at the Boardman Performance Centre to document the process of testing out their new line of speedwear. Lovely client and nice place to work on a cold December day.
Ilkley cycle race photography
Another session in the HSBC UK National Circuit Series, this time in Ilkley. Great when these events are hosted in my back garden as it were and the light was heavenly. Lots of gaps between buildings to create shafts of light for the riders to pass through.
Cycling portraits
A quick session with a pretty awesome cyclocross rider I met while shooting an event. I wanted to do something along the lines of a brand shoot, playing around with back light and the new light toy of a ring tube. I even threw in a little Rembrandt lighting too just for fun.
Colne Grand Prix cycling photography
Colne Grand Prix cycling circuit race photography. Final leg in the series of circuit races. We got the weather on this one, happy days!
Cycling hill climb photography - Luddenden
Another hill to climb, more pain faces to capture. What more could a sports photographer ask for!
Cycling team training camp photography
Always great to be involved in the cycling world as a photographer. This time I was flown to Barcelona to document the training week from this ladies team as they began preparation for the season ahead. I tried to tell the story of those few days, show insights into the routine and hard work that is needed to compete as pro riders.
Blake Street hill climb cycling photography
Wet mornings in Autumn are no big surprise in the north. What better way to make the most of sitting on ya bum, photographing mad people cycling as hard as they can up a very steep hill. Oh yeah, forgot to mentionβ¦ as fast as they can. Thatβs what I do, I guess for the love of capturing those faces of intrepidation followed by absolute pure agony. As always huge respect to those who dareβ¦
Velodrome photography
It was nice to be invited along to the event at the Manchester velodrome by British Universities & Colleges Sport (bucs), to capture the days events. With low light, worse in parts of the arena only one thing to do. Lots of long exposures! Some of the photographs have a real painted feel to them with the blur from the arena as the riders whizzed by. Nice also to be inside, dry and warm for a change π
British Cycling - Lets ride photography
British Cycling - Let's ride, Manchester. Closed circuit cycling event in Manchester for hundreds of budding cyclists to get on a bike and enjoy the days ride.
Cycling photography - National Cross Country Mountain Bike Series
Fantastic location for the National Cross Country Mountain Bike round 2 race, we even had some sun. Huge array of talent across the board, great to see up close the action as always.
Sheffield Grand Prix photography
Another session in the HSBC UK National Circuit Series, this time in Sheffield. Such exciting events to cover as a photographer on very small circuits with good viewing for audiences creating great atmosphere. Also lots of nice action shots available of elites battling head to head for us photographers.
Cycle Track race
A quick race at the Brownlee Cycle Track on a fairly sunny day was the perfect way to prepare for the Tour of Britain cycling race coming up in a weeks time. Great to see how enthusiastic and passionate local cyclists can be at a fairly small scale event, willing to put their all in for the finishing jersey.
Cyclocross photography β Yorkshire points β Wakefield
Another weekend, another cyclocross race, this time in Wakefield. With rain expected for the afternoon i was prepared for the worst, or for me as a photographer, best conditions for a photograph. However the sun had different ideas and quickly became a lovely Autumnal afternoon. What better way to spend a Sunday, sitting in the mud waiting for these inspiring athletes to ride past.
Sustrans - Tandem cycle ride
I was delighted to be invited to shoot for Sustrans and to capture some tandem riders making the most of the cycle routes and pathways around Harrogate. The riders were a mixture of volunteers who helped steer those with disabilities. The evening of the shoot we were blessed with lovely warm Spring weather. Lovely cycle routes, great weather, what more could you ask for.
Cyclo-Cross National Trophy - Bradford photography
Absolute amazing day for cyclocross photography, snow cloud skies with occasional flurries of snow, huge amount of riders to trudge the course up and yes, acres of mud. Temperatures didnβt raise much above 1Β° but as a cyclocross photographer was an absolute pleasure seeing these heroic athletes perform in atrocious conditions. Well done all!
Tour de Yorkshire photography
With a mix up with accreditation I thought to make the best of a bad situation was to visit the most local place the Tour de Yorkshire passes/finishes in Ilkley. Walking around the huge crowds I looked for the moments, the interesting and quirky before the riders arrived. With the drive to get some shots of the riders up close I managed to sneak past the security to get my usual place in and amongst as the riders recovered from a devastating final hill finish.
Tour of Britain photography
It was a great experience to not only photograph the Tour of Britain this year but even better from the inside of a team as we crossed the country. Team Cylance from America commissioned me to document their journey from every vantage point, from the early morning massages, to the pursuing cars behind the peloton to welcome them back after each stage on the finishing lines. I photographed the sights and smells of the moving circus known as the tour, capturing the teams gritty performances as they as the minnows of the race fought to stay with the main pack. Thank you all for making me so very welcome to the team.
Cyclocross photography β Yorkshire points β Halifax
The weekends cyclocross race was cold and wet. Super full of possibilities for me and my camera but a real test for the riders. The location was fab, lots of different horizons and types of shots. I decided to follow the light as it passed through the trees in the boggiest part of the course. The glimpses of the riders faces as they endured the course was what i wanted to capture in the rays of sunlight that filtered through. Huge appreciation for everyone who raced.
Cyclocross photography β Yorkshire points β Huddersfield
Itβs always exciting going to a new sporting event Iβve not done before. I fell in love with cycling photography only in the last year but seeing cyclocross has added double to my passion to shoot more. I love the format of the races, i like the range of athletes competing from young riders to seniors, ranging from a fun ride to real aggressive competing. With the rain falling i cant wait for the next race and to see some mud on faces π
