Yorkshire photographer working in Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and London. I’m available to work wherever you need me to be.
As a photographer and now also a video creator, it’s ALL about the quality of work. To create something visually dramatic, perhaps emotive alongside those key essentials to make sure the photograph or video is doing and saying the right thing for the brief. Whether it’s a corporate headshot, brand photoshoot or a sports kit needing to be photographed, my attention to the important details never wavers. My standards for quality production are as high as can be and you will only ever get photography or video content that I am proud to give to you.
See below a mixture of the projects I have enjoyed crafting in the last few months and years. Let me know how I can help you?
Female bodybuilder photography
Gritty bodybuilder photography
This is a personal project. Something I like to do in between paid jobs, where I look at my own needs for creativity as an artist and seek outlets to keep what photography first got me excited about.
I was looking to work with Emily and create some dark gritty imagery that spoke of her drive and determination in sculpting her physique for her upcoming competition. Her prep includes intense gym work along side reducing body fat to a minimum to aid the complete look. With this single session, I wanted to capture her as a hard working athlete, highlighting all the things she needs to reach top physical perfection in a way photographically that suited the mood. Hence, the dark shadows, sometimes silhouettes just showing her physique. There is an intentional tone right from concept.
I always love working around top athletes, seeing them working on their bodies to reach their high levels of fitness. For the photography side of things, it was nice to capture her working extremely hard, using every bit of her strength. To capture the shots of pre push, extreme exertion and then the pain of the aftermath and recovery. As a bodybuilder she needs to focus on, her shape, symmetry and size of course. I wanted to also capture her looking at her work in the mirror, confirming her gym battles are on track and she’s reaching her goals. Always nice and a privilege to be allowed to be there during the process as athletes push to their limits.
This photography and its style in approach could of course be used in photo or video. To create moody promotion output for any athlete or brands alike. If you are in the business of shaping a brand, you are part of the decision making team, wanting to create iconic imagery, give me a shout.
Athletes, the same applies. Why not tell your story…
Sports photography for a personal trainer
Nice to get back into some sports photography work again, including creating some videos for Lydia to support her growing business as a personal trainer. I'm working on those videos now to appear in the coming weeks. Watch this space...
The tone of the work in this boxing gym was pretty much nailed down, I'd never been there but I knew what I wanted to create, including the mood and what shots to take. Its part of being a good photographer, thinking on your feet and being able to make things work, despite no windows. Then it was just a matter of instructing Lydia so we got the shots she needed for her business.
I love to tell stories with photography and think with sports, there are many things to say. Mostly, it's about drive and ambition and with Lydia, the short time I spent with her, it's clear to see she has those essential things to help her succeed in her new business. I wish her well!
Brand Sportswear Photography
Good brand photography not only shows the product looking its best but gives potential customers viewing them the vision they can also wear the kit and look as great as the athlete in the shot. I help to create inspirational imagery that sells a lifestyle. Showing athletes who are training, pushing their limits, using the kit and the kit being just what the athlete needs to be a better athlete. I like to create photographs that tell stories. Stories that hopefully inspire a customer to pick up a garment or two and go out and exercise.
Sportswear Photographer
Another cold day in Yorkshire. “No way you say?” I photographed some Sportswear and Activewear photography for a super nice duo who were sisters. Brave enough to endure the cold and take the lead from me in creating some ‘fly on the wall’ shots as they warmed up and ran through such beautiful landscape. To create some great Sportswear and Activewear photography it really helps to ensure there’s a narrative for the days shoot. Something for the athletes to have in their head to help make more real. Two loving but very competitive sisters was enough of a story to work with. The girls train 6 days a week. For me, working with athletes showing sports kit is essential. They are passionate about what they do and of course they look great in the kit. There’s a real genuine look at what the brand kit product is capable of, putting it through its paces and looking great for wannabe athletes to be inspired by…
Fashion photography Yorkshire
Nice afternoon shoot with a model agency new face. I had a clear set of poses and mood for the shoot. I didn’t know what she would be bringing kit wise but made work with what she had.
Sportswear and Activewear Photographer
Photographing Sportswear. I have the pleasure of meeting some great people as a photographer. Sometimes I work with people more than once and working with India is a real treat for sure! The usual route to creating sportswear photography begins with myself coming up with a moodboard to show the model what it is I intend on shooting. It can included ideas for poses and kit. Then on the day we just have fun creating, working with the space we have available, the sportswear and the direction I choose. With a model with great poise and form as an athlete the job becomes way easier. Then its up to me to find the direction and mood of the photoshoot.
Sport fitness photography
Whenever there is a quiet spot, in between shoots I love to contact a model and just photograph for the love of the job and to create something I am proud of. Also a great way to show future clients my work and passion for the process of creating fitness photography, brand photography lookbooks etc. I have photographed Lucy before but weather stopped short that session. This time we had the time and weather to photograph some brand lifestyle photography to help fill up her modeling portfolio. For me fashion photography and sports fitness photography it’s all about making the gear look as good as it can. To create clean imagery that highlights the quality of the garments in whatever the situation. To put it through some rigorous activity as well as posed shots to show it looks cool too.
Sport fitness photography London
I was invited to shoot some sports fitness photography for Tala for a new range of kit down in London. Early March for a fitness photoshoot is always a challenge and the cold weather didn't disappoint. While sharing the 3 models with the other team of videographers the challenge was to not get in each others way and be seen in the background. A mixture of inside and outside was needed but the cold was hard to deal with for the models. I needed to find a nifty solution. As I wandered around the facility I noticed some areas where sports equipment was being stored. The added benefit being what sun there was helped make this space warm against the huge windows. This space made for some nice contrasty sports fitness photography shots against the netting and the large windows became softboxes creating lovely light. WIN! You have to make the jobs and situations you find yourself in and as a photographer its always helped by some creative thinking!

I'd been commissioned to shoot a new range of kit for a sports fitness brand and wanting to make the most of my trip to London hooked up with a model the day before. Conditions were far from ideal for sports bras and shorts, bitterly cold to the bone. Huge respect to the model for her commitment to her trade. A mutually beneficial meeting to add to our portfolios.
The client shoot the next day was not any better for those models weather wise but at least we were all getting paid for it.
Cycling Sportswear and Activewear Photography
Activewear photography is probably my favourite thing to shoot for my range of clients. It’s that mix of partially sports and partially fashion photography combined. The balance is to create activewear photography that makes the product look great while the athletes/models are using it. My preferred look and mood is when the athletes just do their thing and I’m floating around, laying by the side of a road or ahead photographing them as they scale a mountain. Or photographing them in between sessions as they munch on bars and take a drink, just hanging out as cyclists do, hanging off their handlebars. I think getting the right models/athletes for the job is vital to give it the right mood/tone and voice. For most jobs the model selection is led by myself to help the client. If the models have been chosen well then my job becomes much easier and the brand style rises to the top. This particular shoot I was invited to photograph the new range of gear over a long weekend in southern Spain. Springtime can be lovely their but on this occasion the weather was little up and down. In a couple of days we photographed a large range of gear in standing posed scenarios and of course some fun photographing them climbing up and down the local mountain range
Sport brand photography
An early start to the day to meet a new friend for some sports brand photography on a very cold and wet day. After and initial poor start, very cold and windy with low light I started with using a very small strobe but quickly decided against that. Just wasn’t the look I wanted to achieve I had conceived before the day. So with the weather gods behind us, we managed to shoot outside and make use of this amazing brutalist architecture, peering through gaps in the walls as India flew past. Hats off to her for being amazing and happy for me to direct the whole shoot in pretty bad conditions.
Sport brand photography
More brand sports photography on this one with Georgina. I always try to do something different wherever possible so decided on this one to shoot in a skate park. Once the rain and clouds passed by we had beautiful reflective areas to work in creating the most lovely light. Every shoot photographing sports brand work is always a fun creative day.
Sport brand photographer
Lovely to receive work from local businesses, especially when its creating sports brand photography. I spent one weekend scouting out locations for the shoot, picturesque Yorkshire moorland as a backdrop then the following week photographing the cycling kit. Both cyclists I sourced I had met before, photographed at cycling races somewhere along the way. It’s a small world and nice to pick up new friends along the way to work with and work for!
Athlete portraits
Always fantastic to photograph athletes away from the course or race track, this one was fun too playing around with some ideas of leaping around and then the more serious moody style of portraits. An absolute pleasure working with Alex and Nick, I wish them every success on their journey to the top.
Cycling brand photography - Lusso
Lusso is a quality cycling clothing brand designed and made in Manchester. John the owner was a pleasure to work with putting this together, indeed a gentleman and wish him and his longtime brand continued success. What was great about the shoot were the models, they were all pretty amazing riders in their own right and seeing the scars on their bodies told many stories.

Runner portraits - Ben Mounsey
I say it often but I really do feel very lucky and privileged to be invited into peoples lives for either a wedding or a portrait shoot but being the mediocre runner that i am, it is indeed inspiring to not only see and meet the speediest athletes (I can only dream of being) but I was lucky enough to photograph one of the best, Mr Ben Mounsey. Not only is Ben a superior athlete but such a good guy to boot. I can only say the day we spent tracking up and down the moors was a real blast, great fun and we nailed a few pretty nice shots too. Thanks Ben, looking forward to the next shoot!
Bodybuilder photography
Rich is an awesome athlete, his body is testament to ambition, dedication and pure hard work, hes a nice guy to boot too! Capturing his body sculpture and playing around with the way the light fell on his body was a lot of fun in a very small space in the gym. Hoping for the next shoot to be able to take my backdrop with me, to help really focus on the subject and not the surroundings.
Fitness photos
Absolutely loving getting in from the cold and wet to work in the studio environment. This one was a very quick turn around based on time limitations on the location – 45mins to get some shots. As always I can not thank enough the athletes I photograph who give their time. Thank you Patrycja.
